The Prince of Thieves
Yes! I've finally managed to get my hands on Kevin Costner's Robin Hood : Prince of Thieves. I've been looking for this movie ever since I started collecting DVD's...and other than the obvious choice of spending a fortune and buying it online from a certain company that's named after a river in South America, I opted to look for it in the local DVD shops. It took me a while...in fact I've almost given up on it, but lo and behold, a month ago in IOI Mall's Speedy Video Center...there it was, ON SALE!
It's interesting how universal the appeal is for a tale about a rich nobleman that chose to let go the comforts of his estate and ventures into the forest, befriends other outlawed men who were driven into the same forest by the oppressors, forms a band of thieves and steals from the rich to give to the poor. Fantastic, yes...romantic, definitely. It's been a childhood dream (yet to be realized) to visit England and step foot into Nottingham, and on to the Old Market Square from where within walking distance stands the Robin Hood Memorial Statue.
Three cheers to Robin of The Hood and his Merry Men - I want to believe that he actually lived and his exploits were more than just stories.
