Jon Favreau's Iron Man

We should offer gratitude to the god of movies if ever such an entity exists, for allowing movies such as this get done. Described elsewhere on the Internet as "126 minutes of gadget porn" Iron man is definitely one of the best comic books to movie adaptation of the year. I'd never been that big of a fan of this particular Marvel character, one of the main reasons being its similarity to DC's Bruce Wayne. Perhaps I've been wrong. Iron Man is quite an interesting character on its own.

Who'd ever thought that Robert Downey Jr. could pull off Tony Stark with such elegance? Coming forward as highly flawed (hence highly human as well), Downey Jr. made Tony Stark into a very likeable "crooked guy". Even Gwyneth Paltrow was good, and did not succumb into the pit that Kirsten Dunst sunk as Mary Jane Watson.

Though the fight between Iron Man and Iron Monger during the climax did come across as a bit "cartoonish", that's just one small part of the movie. If the "Rocketeer" made you believe a man with a rocket backpack can fly, "Iron Man" will convince you that it's not so big a deal, provided you're as rich and as smart as Tony Stark. In fact, the whole movie rides in that simple fact.

Overall, Iron Man was a really good piece of work, one that I'll watch many times over and over again.
